Susan Wordsworth is an artist whose work delves into the natural world with vivid imagination and has psychological undertones. Her art weaves together themes of poetry, allegory, love, and loss, creating a rich tapestry of meaning. She begins her creative process in the studio with detailed observational drawings, which evolve into paintings, monotypes, and etchings that evoke awe and wonder for the beauty of both nature and humanity.

Susan’s art is profoundly shaped by her personal journey, including the challenges of a life-threatening illness that brought a renewed focus on the connection between creativity and well-being. A passionate traveller, her recent explorations in South America have infused her work with the wild vitality of tangled jungles, blending seamlessly with the pastoral essence of Somerset landscapes and intimate portraiture. She embraces experimentation, incorporating painted etchings and printed papers into her pieces, and works without boundaries as long as the result resonates emotionally.

Born and raised in Europe and the Middle East, Susan’s diverse upbringing laid the foundation for her artistic curiosity. She earned an honours degree in fashion and design in the UK, worked with Liberty London designer fabrics, and travelled extensively in East Asia, collecting artefacts and textiles that continue to inspire her. Later, she pursued Fine Art as a postgraduate in Bath, where she now lives.

Susan honed her printmaking skills at Sandra Porter RWA's Studio and studied at the Royal Drawing School in London. She is an active member of the Bath Artist Printmakers Cooperative and has had work selected for notable curated exhibitions, including Wells Art Contemporary, Royal West of England Academy, Black Swan Arts and Bath Society of Artists.

Her practice is a celebration of life’s complexities, offering a poignant and vibrant response to the world around her.
